Katie Dooley is the Founder of Paper Lime Creative, an Edmonton-based design, branding, and public relations agency. As the lead graphic designer and branding specialist, her skills embody bold creativity and collaboration—the pillars of the Paper Lime Process. For Katie, it’s not enough to hand over a branding package; she takes the time to educate clients on how to effectively use and leverage their branding assets. Her participatory process and helpful expertise are what keep clients coming back for all their design and PR needs. 

It’s not a stretch to say that Katie was destined to be a graphic designer and found Paper Lime Creative. Her dream to be an artist started at age three, and although her vision switched several times in her youth—first author, then environmental scientist, then movie director, and photographer—her creative desires finally focused on graphic design. A fateful class called Communication Technology and a group of incredible teachers inspired Katie, which earned her the Comm Tech award at her high school graduation and went on to pursue her current career.

Since making her childhood dream a reality, Katie has gone on to win awards for her branding designs, including the 2021 Muse Award for the Blackmore Real Estate brand. The positive impact her designs have on the businesses she works with is what Katie loves most about her industry. The reason Katie founded Paper Lime Creative was to help entrepreneurs pursue their dreams and look amazing with their branding while doing it!

Paper Lime Creative proudly supports causes Katie cares about, including LGBTQ+ allyship in the Edmonton community. She frequently donates to YESS and the CHEW Project as the need arises. As a second-generation Canadian, Katie is passionate about her Ukrainian and Irish heritage. She has been Irish dancing since she was eleven, has ranked in the top 100 in the world, and now sits on the board of the Western Canada Rose of Tralee. 

You could say that Katie’s superpower is her passionate curiosity. When she’s not creating for clients, she can be found trying new baking recipes, tending her garden, planning her next travel adventure, or hosting epic board game nights with her husband for their friends. 

Katie is grateful for her work because of the amazing opportunities she has to meet incredible entrepreneurs, learn about their businesses, solve creative challenges, and provide for her family doing what she loves most

Madi is a vibrant part of the Paper Lime Creative team as the marketing intern. She is a third-year marketing student completing her Bachelor of Business Administration at Mount Royal University. Her keen mind for market research and providing key insights makes her an asset in developing creative strategies to help our clients stand out from their competition.  

From a very early age, Madi was immersed in all things entrepreneurial, having worked hands-on alongside her father in his restaurant. Her exposure to the behind-the-scenes of business operations means Madi is highly familiar with the struggles, needs, and desires most business owners and entrepreneurs have when they come to a graphic design and branding agency for help in their marketing. 

Madi is also passionate about her Christian faith and helping people feel seen and loved. She volunteers with The Inside, a non-profit organization that provides mentorship for youth in the skateboarding and action sports community. In addition to giving back and paying it forward, Madi enjoys exploring her other creative talents in baking delicious creations, sewing her own clothes, and apprenticing to become a hairstylist! 

 

 

Been is a Virtual Assistant with a varied repertoire of skills and experience that make her an essential part of the Paper Lime Creative team. She assists with a wide range of administrative tasks, enabling Katie and the marketing team to focus on creating and strategizing for clients. Been loves learning, developing a variety of skills, and the simple process of discovering something new. Her appetite for knowledge makes her a valued resource in all things business-related and beyond. 

In addition to supporting entrepreneurs and helping their businesses thrive and grow, Been has many other interests and pursuits. She is proudly queer and a passionate supporter of all things 2SLGBTQIA+. She’s also a supporter of causes related to animal welfare, wildlife preservation, and local animal shelters.  

Another fun fact about Been is that she’s a talented makeup artist! She was nominated for a Rosie Award (an AMPIA – Alberta Media Production Industries Association award, sort of like the Oscars for just Alberta) in the category of Best Makeup for the project called Hellevator in which she oversaw the creation of about a dozen demons. During her six years living in New Zealand, she was also an Assistant Stage Manager for the official touring production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express and was a professional makeup artist with her own company. From time to time, she will volunteer her artistry for her friends’ photoshoots. 

Outside of makeup artistry, Been also enjoys watching movies, travelling, getting tattoos, collecting art, going to the ballet, and scuba diving. She is also a talented writer, vampire scholar, and owner of a giant grey and white cat named Purrseus.
